"May is Older Americans Month"
earns 3rdActs
Pie-in-Face Award.

For meritorious service in providing 3rdActs.com with a spectacular demonstration of America's obsolete mindset toward Older Americans, we award our most intense expression of disapproval to President Obama and the U.S. Administration on Aging.
The President's proclamation was issued on May 4, 2009, amid a flurry of undoubtedly higher priority actions and announcements. Read the White House press release here.
Herewith, our Proclamation:
The 3rdActs.com Pie-in-Face is awarded to:
President Barack Obama and the U.S. Administration on Aging
Although we Older Americans deeply appreciate our government's recognizing us for "strengthening our communities and the American Way of Life" —
especially your attention to those of us who
"remain in the workforce to support themselves
and their families" —
We nevertheless offer this tactile reminder of the waste of resources and experience engendered by the
American Way of Life for People over 50,
which focuses on characterizing "Older Americans" only as declining organisms, requiring increasing care,
Which national attitude the Older Americans Act of 1965 or any of its resulting programs have done nothing to change.
Indeed, we have a sneaking suspicion that all our governmental efforts have only produced
a national, perpetual, self-fulfilling prophecy.
We also acknowledge the part
each and every one of us play
in accepting the national expectation of decline.
We expect less of ourselves every day.
And so we fervently request
a bigger piece of the national pie
to thrust into our own faces as well.
